Practices that operate properly handle licence questions every week; the request costs them nothing and they answer it in writing without hesitation. Evasion, subject-changing or "trust us, we are fully certified" without specifics is an early, cheap warning that arrived before your deposit did.
What are the four steps of the licence check?

1. Get the licensed facility name in writing
Ask for the clinic's Ministry of Health facility licence details — including the exact legal name it is licensed under. Many clinics trade under a brand ("X Dental Smile Studio") while being licensed under a formal title; you need the formal one.

2. Cross-check with the Provincial Health Directorate
Each of Turkey's provinces runs a Health Directorate (İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü) that publishes lists of the licensed private oral and dental health facilities in its territory — Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir all do. Search the directorate's site for the exact licensed name. The Ministry's national portal is saglik.gov.tr.

3. Match the paperwork to the licence
The licensed entity — not the brand — is who your agreement is with. Confirm the licensed name and address appear on the written treatment plan, the contract and every invoice. A mismatch between the entity taking your money and the entity holding the licence is worth resolving before anything else.

4. Pause on any failure
If the name cannot be found, the clinic cannot or will not supply it, or the answers keep shifting — stop. Turkey has thousands of licensed clinics; there is no reason to gamble on the one that will not show its licence.
What does the licence not tell you?
A licence is the floor, not the ceiling. It confirms regulatory compliance of the premises and staffing; it does not measure clinical skill, material quality, honesty of treatment planning, or aftercare. How do I ask a clinic for its licence without causing offence?
Directly and politely — it is a routine request. Something like: "Before we book, could you send the details of your Ministry of Health facility licence and the name it is registered under?"
